How to find a supplement's old formula.

The brand's page shows today's label and nothing else. Here is where the old one still lives, in the order we look, and what each place can actually prove.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Start with a dated record of the product, then archived copies of the brand's page from before the change, then filed labels in NIH's Dietary Supplement Label Database. Compare amounts line by line, and keep the dates. An archive date tells you when a label was online, not when the formula changed, and a different number with no date attached is not evidence of a change.

The old label rarely stays online.

A brand's product page is a shop window. When the formula changes, the window changes, and nothing marks the old one.

That is why the same search keeps coming up: “did C4 change their formula,” “Ghost Legend V3 vs V4.” People remember a tub that hit differently, and the only label online is the new one.

Old labels do survive. They just live in places that each prove something different, so the order you check them in matters.

Four places to look, strongest first.

A dated record of the product
Search the Record: 1249 product listings and 3,185 dated states, the oldest from 2017. If a product has history, its page shows each state with its source.
Archived copies of the brand's page
Paste the product page address into the Wayback Machine and open captures from before you think it changed. Many pages load the label with JavaScript, so a capture can be an empty shell.
Filed labels at NIH
DSLD keeps declared panels, including labels now marked off market. Its entry date is when the label was filed, not when the product carried it. Developers can use the DSLD API guide.
The tub in your cupboard
Your container is a label too. Photograph the Supplement Facts panel with the lot number and best-by date before you finish it.

Old formulas: common questions

How do I know if my pre-workout changed its formula?

Compare the label on your tub with a dated label from before. If you do not have the old label, check the product's FormulaSignal Record for dated states, then archived copies of the brand's page. A different number with no date attached is not evidence of a change, because it may be a different flavor or size.

Does the date on an archived page tell me when the formula changed?

No. It tells you the page looked that way on that day. A change happened somewhere between the last capture showing the old label and the first showing the new one, and the exact day is usually unknown.

Can I buy the old formula?

Sometimes older stock stays on retailer shelves after a change, which is why two tubs of the same product can declare different amounts. The label on the tub you hold is the one that describes it.
